ferry through spring fog
in the distance: Seattle,
a cup of coffee
ferry through spring fog
in the distance: Seattle,
a cup of coffee
eggs on paper plates
bad coffee in paper cups
and yet: the sunrise
on a cloudy day
straining for inspiration
first step: this coffee
sunshine on the snow
pumpkin cake in the oven
coffee in my hand
gray autumn morning
black coffee in ceramic
Sunday, full of hopes
in line at Starbucks
a cow being herded through
confined, addicted
sun streams from the east
the west: still plugged up with clouds
pour another mug
in front of the store
deciding: coffee or tea
driving on instead
up before the sun
wearing my hope like a crown
still needing coffee
rain on the window
the sky: nothing but grey clouds
but in here, coffee
