one poem every day

the haiku man

Month: December, 2016

ashes of the day/

each memory an ember/

heating up your heart

warm Old Rasputin/

laughter in the living room/

friends, Saturday night

just a wee dusting/

not enough for a snowman/

powdered sugar snow

she sits mesmerized/

my nine year old, my Jedi/

Star Wars: A New Hope

in the dining room/

beef stroganoff and Malbec/

out there: the cold night

stare at the night sky/

stare, and count each of the stars/

go get a massage

December Sunday/

frosty by late afternoon/

sun low in the west

pinpricks in the sky/

your breath hangs in the night air/

I say: “Let’s get home.”
